Strategies for Successful IT Project Recovery

Don’t let necessary change become unnecessary loss

Agility does not exist to exacerbate issues with your current staff, MSP, anyone, involved in IT projects that have stalled. Agility simply looks for situations that have become challenging to showcase capabilities. Few situations are more ripe for such capabilities than on projects that have stalled.

There are endless reasons like scope creep, timeline slips, budgets blown, and all the other things that can occur or change after a project begins.

When this happens, the most important thing to do is call the project to attention to the project and identify it as stalled. Agility will conduct an IT project rescue plan. Identification of the existence of a stalled project and identifying the issues becomes essential. Doing so will increase the short-term efforts but it is essential to get the project back on track.

Project recovery is not just about fixing problems identified, it is incorporating solutions to why the project was derailed in the first place – it’s about ensuring long-term success and aligning with business goals.
Effective strategies can turn a failing project into a success story.

The amount of effort is low especially when calculated against a project that may stall over a several week or multiple months. About 5%-15% of the total project time needs to be put forth before it moves forward. The large range comes from the unknown amount of project planning that occurred and was documented to begin with before the project started.

This quick guide explores proven strategies for IT project recovery, Agility Network Services’ experience, involvement, and IT Project Recovery offers.

Coming From an Existing MSP Relationship

Available for qualified new clients and approved project scope only. We offer this program to help clients finish lingering technical projects and to give Agility the opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities early in the relationship. To remain viable, the work must be commercially reasonable and generally average under one hour per workstation or user unless otherwise approved. Excludes hardware, software, licensing, third-party expenses, and out-of-scope work. If Agility does not complete the approved project scope, the client may exit the MSP agreement under the terms of the offer. If completed, the approved project cost is credited back against the annual fee in equal monthly amounts over the agreement term.

Agility Networks usually finds other projects that need to be done (all in the name of saving money over lifecycle of the solution, technology, software). Agility has never recommended anything superfluous or is a less efficient/effective spend.

The Project Rescue is simply putting a name on something that Agility has gained a ton of experience with – taking over projects where previous providers have bailed. The majority of the time projects have been taken over the client simply needs a new company. Agility has simply put a name to this process and incorporated it into sales scripts. At the very least it starts the communication.

Also, in general, offers / discounts / savings / deals of any type are critical to online sales efforts.

Clients do see the savings and it can be very helpful but like most offers it will not be noticed. It isn’t noticed due to the fact that projects should be completed without much fanfare to begin with.
